With 2014 soon turning into 2015, NCAA swim teams are gearing up for the second half of the season. This weekend’s meets to watch feature dual meets and invitationals as many teams are away on their training trips.
One invitational to watch will be the Orange Bowl Classic, an annual event that occurs with the Orange Bowl football game. This year’s classic will be headlined by the Michigan women, as well as the West Virginia men and women. George Mason, along with several other teams, will also be in attendance.
There are three dual meets to keep an eye over the weekend as well. LSU will head to Dallas to take on SMU. The SMU women have been inactive since the Art Adamson Invitational, while the men’s team last saw action at the KMSC Elite meet. Both the LSU men and women have been off since the Art Adamson Invite as well.
Florida will make a trip to Tallahassee to take on instate rival Florida State in the other big dual meet this weekend. The Gators have been off since the Georgia Tech Invitational, and should be able to handle the Seminoles. Florida State is coming off sixth place finishes on both the men’s and women’s sides at the Georgia Invitational.
South Carolina will play host to Georgia in an SEC matchup. Georgia will be coming off hosting the Georgia Invite, while South Carolina last competed at the Virginia Tech Invitational in November.
The award for best meet location this weekend goes to the Copa Coqui Invitational in San Jaun, Puerto Rico. The invitational features UMass, UCONN, and Loyola, among other schools.
