NC State’s Braden Holloway “I Think We Can Be Faster at NCAA’s”

North Carolina State coach Braden Holloway talks with SwimSwam’s Max Mitchell after day 2 at the 2015 ACC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships.

The day was a successful one with a new ACC Record by Riki Bonnema in the 50 free, and nearly another record in the 200 free relay with Bonnema as the anchor. Holloway still sees room for improvement, however, as he says that if they can get all of their 50 freestylers firing at the same time, he thinks they can be even better at NCAA’s.

What coach says that they won’t be better at NCAAs? Easier said than done….my opinion, as I competed in the meet, one of the toughest meets to be 100%. The men last year should have easily been top 10 but things happen. If they do not get top 5 this year it would be a disappointment. I hope they do even though I was a rival…….

Missing a top 5 at NCAA would be a disappointment??? Are you kidding me?? Have you seen their facility? If you competed at the ACC Championships, then you would know how bad they were 4 years ago. The fact that they are in the talk of being a top 5 program is a HUGE accomplishment for the coaching staff.

Are you kidding me? What does a facilty have to do with anything? That have another 50 meter pool that was used for ACCs a few decades ago so give me a break (held ACCs). Not saying anything about the coaching staff. But obviously you have never been to NCAAs…you score all your relays at NCAAs in the the top 8 then you get top 8 – without your studs repeating their swims from ACCs. They should have done that last year….but didn’t. The NC State legacy is so concerned about ACCs…..you have to know what is more important. And when you get a team like this you don’t care about ACCs and you focus on NCAAs – not many… Read more »
