Defending 2019 ACC Champions, the Wolfpack of NC State, have officially released their 2019-20 meet schedule. Among the schedule highlights, the Wolfpack will add a quad meet against Kentucky, Missouri, and Arkansas as well as a Virginia Tech dual for their regular meet season. The team will only host 3 dual meets in Raleigh, including the 5th Annual Wolfpack Games and duals against South Carolina and Duke.
Along with bumping their total dual meets to now six, the Wolfpack will also head down to three stops of the Pro Swim Series. Their first stop will be in Greensboro on Nov. 6-9, serving as a final tune-up before their mid-season invitational. They are next featured in the Knoxville stop on January 16-19 that will take place post winter break/training trip. Finally, the Wolfpack will head to Des Moines on March 6-9 just a few weeks before the 2020 NCAA Championships.
This is significant because all of these meets are in long course in the pre-Olympic season, as compared to the collegiate short course.

*updated with the men’s ACC basketball schedule
The team has dropped some of its big national-caliber dual meets from last year and are focusing on more of a local, regional schedule for their collegiate opponents. For example, last season, the Wolfpack raced against Texas and Arizona as their final regular season meet. This season, however, the Wolfpack will not race against the Longhorns or Wildcats this season. Their dual meets will be almost exclusively ACC opponents, with exceptions being former ACC member South Carolina and a tri against Kentucky, Missouri, and Arkansas.
The Wolfpack will also travel to Greensboro for a five-team mid-season invitational that include ACC rival Duke, Arizona State, Auburn, and Wisconsin. Among the four other teams, the Auburn women had the highest 2019 NCAA finish with their 12th place finish.
Here’s a closer look at NC State’s 2019-20 dual meet opponents and their 2019 NCAA finishes.

*2018-19 dual rivals only
During December, the Wolfpack will attend both a regular mid-season invitational as well as the U.S. Open (formerly known as Winter Nationals) to give American swimmers opportunities to achieve Trials cuts and international swimmers the chance to hit Olympic qualifying times. As previously mentioned, NC State will also attend three TYR Pro Swim Series stops, all scattered around the season as opportunities to race international/non-NCAA Americans during the season.
The Wolfpack walked away from the 2018-19 season with only one dual meet loss to lead them towards another ACC Championship team title. At the 2019 NCAAs, both programs finished in the top 10, with the women scoring 7th and the men snagging 4th overall.
Is the ACC/B10 meet not taking place this year? It was a fun meet that produced some fast swims. Sad to see it missing from several ACC teams schedules after just one year.
No. The meet was kind of out there to showcase both conferences as being elite when they were seen as the 2-3 or 3-4 best conferences… but they clearly showed last year that they are 1-2 and will be 1-2 for a while so no point to the meet anymore.
“but they clearly showed last year that they are 1-2 and will be 1-2 for a while so no point to the meet anymore.” – the conference that won both Division 1 NCAA Championships last year might disagree with that statement lol.
Touche, but one team doesn’t make the whole conference….. was the Big XII the best mens conference for several years when they won the title? Is the ACC the best in football because Clemson won the title? I guess I should have given some criteria to claim the ACC and B1G were the best swimming conferences last year and will be for a few years. I look at #of NCAA invites, 8th, 16th and 24th place times at conference meet in addition to individual and relay champions. Overall depth. So based on that, I would say they are the best.
Typical NC State where it is all about the hype and trying to sell their program.
Huh?
Not sure what they are selling…. But seems to be working. Braden and his team/staff have created quite the diamond in the rough down in NC. I’m here for it 👌🏼🙌
At least it isn’t UVA level hype…
Nc State versus UVA January 24, 2020 dual meet should be really good.
I’m afraid it wont be, but it will be closer than last year. I think the big meets at the end of Feb and March will be closer than the meet in Jan.
Damn, must be nice to not have to go to school
Dang, it must suck to do your school work on the road.
it’s NC State….
It’s rich coming from a UNC-CH fan
If you look at the schedule, they aren’t traveling very far for a lot of the meets
It also may be the WP Elite swimmers (grads and pros) who will be heading to the TYR meet and the current student athletes will stay local.
Have you ever checked the schedules for the college basketball teams?
thought their favorite number was ‘4’
Same joke different day. But of interest on States schedule… they have 2-3 meets going on the same days. Wondering how they plan to split the team up for that.
They have a very deep coaching staff, they have done that splitting many times in the past.
I mean distribute the athletes per meets.
