Thoughts from the Wolfpack
Swimming
“Our team has another tough competition this weekend,” said head coach Braden Holloway. “It seems like par for the course for us this year which is great. Coach Capitani (Texas women’s head coach) and her staff have done a great job in continuing the traditions of Texas. They have a lot of great individuals but also have been performing really well as a team. This is a great challenge for our women to go against a really outstanding team that has really great depth; it’s going to be a lot of learning for our young team to get up and do what they can. We want to stay within ourselves and race how we want to race but also not take away the spirit of just competition. I’m glad Texas is coming up; it’s going to be great competition for our women to go against some great individuals and have some good battles.

On the men’s side, you have one of the greatest programs ever in any sport led by one of the greatest swim coaches, if not the greatest swim coach of all time. Coach Reese always has his teams achieving greatness and this is something we strive to do and something we want to continue to build towards. This is a great opportunity for us to go up against a program that does it every year. I can’t tell you how much I respect Coach Reese and what he’s been able to do; it’s going to be a great opportunity for us to give them our best shot. Tomorrow is going to be a lot of fun; it’s only a mark toward NCAA’s and we know that. There’s going to be some fast stuff going on with the quality of individuals in each event and the quality of individuals on the diving board. A lot of tradition coming; we have great tradition on our side as well. It’s going to be a great opportunity for our team to compete against an outstanding team.”

Diving
“I’m really excited about this upcoming meet against Texas,” said diving coach Yahya Radman. “There are very few teams that can instill either fear or utter excitement to teams around the country, and I think Texas is one of those teams. They’re a very strong, solid team; their weakest link is an NCAA qualifier, so to put our divers against such a high-caliber team is very exciting. I’m personally very excited to see that and how far our divers have come. In order to be one of the best in the country you have to put yourself against the best. That’s not to take anything away from our other opponents but when Texas rolls into town, we need to be prepared because this is a team we will be seeing at the national level. In order to be at that level, you have to contend with them. This will be a good test for our divers.”
