NAG Record-holder Adam MacDonald (2022) Verbally Commits to West Virginia

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Adam McDonald from Middletown, Ohio has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at West Virginia University beginning in the fall of 2022.

“I’m very excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for West Virginia University. I’m thankful for my family, coaches, and teammates who have helped me along the way. I’m looking forward to being part of an amazing team! Go Mountaineers!!🟡🔵”

McDonald is a rising senior at Lakota East High School in Liberty Township. He swims year-round with Mason Manta Rays and specializes in breast and IM. As a 10-year-old with Cincinnati Marlins, McDonald broke the National Age Group Records in the 50 yard breast and 100 yard breast, marks that still stand today.

Since the fall of 2020, McDonald has improved his times in the SCY 50/100/200/500 free, 50/100/200 back, 50/100/200 breast, 50/100 fly, and 100/200/400 IM and the LCM 200 free, 100/200 breast, and 200 IM. He went best times in the 200 free (2:00.07) and 200 breast (2:20.95) at Elkhart Sectionals, where he placed 3rd in the 200 breast, 5th in the 100 breast, and 10th in the 200 IM. He then won the 200 breast and was 3rd in the 100 breast and 200 IM at the CM May Long Course Meet, notching PBs in the 100 breast (1:04.84) and 200 IM (2:08.78).

In March, at the Ohio Swimming LSC Virtual Senior Championships, he went lifetime bests in all five of his events (100/200 free, 50/200 back, and 200 breast). A month earlier, McDonald competed at the 2021 Ohio High School Division I Swimming and Diving State Championships. He placed 7th in the 200 IM (1:51.75) and 9th in the 100 breast (57.20).

Thats pretty cool that he still holds the 10yo NAGs after all these years! I would say his BR times are still great. Good for him!

Good compared to whom? He broke Ethan Dang’s 100BR 10&U NAG record, but Ethan, 2 years older than Adam, was much faster at age 17: .53/1:55 vs Adam’s .55/2:01

You’re just salty that you don’t have a 10yo NAG and he does. Please walk away from the argument now before you dig yourself a deeper hole.

Salty?? why so personal? I was simply stating a fact. Please check the stat regarding the success, or lack thereof, of top AG swimmers at senior/college levels. If you really are a coach, you should also know better – it’s not how you start a race but how to finish it. .

Middleton Ohio. Well, the city is famous because of author JD Vance’s book hillbilly elegy and the movie by Ron Howard on TV. What is interesting he is attending West Virginia. Another tied end with Appalachia even though Middleton is not in Appalachia but has descents of people from Appalachia. Hopefully, his swimming will improved in college.
