MN State Highschool Girls Interview: Winners, Nack sisters, Coach Dave Burgess

Minnesota High School Girls Class A State Championships has finished (Class AA starts yet this evening), and we saw many impressive swims, from all of the girls who traveled from all over the state of Minnesota, to swim amongst Minnesota’s best.

In this interview, we have Mankato West’s Coach, Dave Burgess, two sisters, Danielle Nack, State Champion and State Record Holder in 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly, a Senior who is headed to the University of Minnesota, and Chantal Nack, Junior who won the 500 freestyle in a very tight race with Thomasin Lee, of Chisago Lakes Area, winning in 4:56.43.

Danielle won both of her events, 100 fly: 53.41 (best 52.41 which is close to national record of 51.92 by Jasmine Tosky), and 50 freestyle in 22.87.

Of interest: 50 free second place went to Senior, Solveig Viren, Senior at Grand Rapids High School (the town in northern Minnesota, which is the home of Wizard of Oz’s original Dorothy, actress Judy Garland).

Their team also won the 4×50 freestyle relay (Chantal Nack, Madison Bacon, Rachel Phinney, Danielle Nack), for the first time in the history of their school – very exciting!

Their team also placed second overall, to Visitation. Sartell was third, Hutchinson 4th, and Albert Lea 5th.
