Mizzou Aquatic Center was made for the #mannequinchallenge

If you haven’t seen the mannequin challenge on social media, the Viking wants to encourage you to check it out by searching #mannequinchallenge on instagram and twitter. Here are the Florida International girls giving it their best shot.

…and here is a clip of the guy who invented it trying to teach some idiots with guns how it works.

SwimSwam was sent a video of some swimmers acing the challenge at the Jim Devine Memorial Invitational at Mizzou this weekend, and even while frozen you could tell these kids were having fun. If you haven’t been to the Mizzou Aquatic Center before, please note the crowd in the background of the video below as the camera scrolls from left to right.

As a Missouri State Bear alum, my first thought when I saw the Mizzou crowd painted on the wall was “that’s one way to make it look like you have fans.”  Of course, Mizzou has been kicking butt the last few years, so maybe I should back off on the trash talk.  #respectMizzouswimalready.  (…am I doing the hashtag thing right?!)

Anyway, I have to admit that the painted weirdness of the thousands of frozen fans stretched out along the distance of the 50 meter pool and diving well adds something to the #mannequinchallenge.  Could it be that Mizzou saw this trend coming and were just way ahead of the game?! Or are they just trying to hide the fact that they don’t have enough bleachers in their facility?

If your swim friends do a #mannequinchallenge we would love to see it shared with us at @swimswamnews.  (…but please for the love of all that’s holy, film in landscape mode!)   I doubt you can beat this group though. The only thing that even remotely flinched was the digital pace clock on the wall!
