Press Release courtesy of MIT Athletics

After her outstanding performance in her collegiate debut at Springfield College on Saturday, MIT women’s swimming and diving freshman Deborah Wen (Honolulu, Hawaii) has been named as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Diver of the Week, as announced by the league yesterday.

Wen registered first place finishes on both boards in the diving well and posted two scores well above the NCAA Division III Diving Regional qualification standard, which helped the No. 6 nationally-ranked Engineers to a 195.5-99.5 win over Springfield. On the 1-meter board, Wen scored 266.02 points and on the 3-meter board the freshman tallied a score of 284.10 points.

MIT is back in action this weekend with a pair of dual meets against Division I opponents. On Friday, the Engineers will host Cornell University at 5:30 p.m. before heading down to Brown University on Saturday for a meet slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
