Minnesota Women Take Down Michigan to Improve to 2-0 On The Season

The Minnesota women’s team hosted the Michigan Wolverines for a Big Ten conference dual meet. The Minnesota women took control of the meet, winning with a score of 173-127. Minnesota improves to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten while Michigan adds their first loss of the season, with a record of 1-1 overall and in the Big Ten.

The Michigan women opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. The team of Ali DeLoof, Angie Chokran, Zoe Mattingly, and Julie Salem finished with a 1:41.10.

Minnesota’s Kiera Janzen led the Golden Gophers to a 1-2 finish in the 1000 freestyle, touching the wall in 9:52.42. Madeline Hoch then led Minnesota to a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 freestyle with a 1:49.79.

Michigan’s Ali DeLoof added her second win of the evening with a 54.54 in the 100 backstroke. She led off the 200 medley relay to start the meet.

Minnesota’s Kierra Smith won the 100 breaststroke in a close race with Michigan’s Angie Chokran.

Courtney Beidler won the 200 butterfly for the Wolverines. She posted a time of 2:00.45.

The Minnesota women took control of the 50 freestyle, finishing 1-2-3, led by Lauren Votava at 23.00. Jessica Ramberg won the 1m diving with a score of 376.60. Right after, Votava jumped back up and won the 100 freestyle, touching the wall at 49.54.

Michigan’s Marie Georger won the 200 backstroke in 1:58.91. Angie Chokran added another win for the Wolverines, winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:17.70.

Kiera Janzen won her second event of the evening with a 4:48.02 in the 500 freestyle.

Minnesota’s Becca Weiland took the 100 butterfly in 54.39. After the Minnesota divers swept the 3m with a 1-2-3 finish led by Sarah McCrady with a 336.15.

Marni Oldershaw won the 200 IM for the wolverines with a time of 2:01.87.

Minnesota finished the evening off with a win in the 400 freestyle relay. The team Lauren Votava, Erin Caflsish, Jessica Plant, and Kierra Janzen posted a winning time of 3:23.17.
