Michael Phelps Shares Olympic Training Center Tour Video

Feel like an Olympian, as 22-time Olympic medalist Michael Phelps walks fans through the Olympic Training Center (OTC) in Colorado Springs, Colorado via a video posted to his Facebook page.

Accompanied by his longtime coach Bob Bowman and training partner Allison Schmitt, Phelps shows views of the outside and inside of where the Baltimore native has been spending his recent weeks as part of his training for the U.S. Olympic Trials.

With the mountains as a backdrop outside, Phelps films the athletes’ cafeteria, dining hall and lounge, complete with cameos by friends and fellow Team USA members Conor Dwyer and Chase Kalisz. Phelps selects meat loaf as his favorite meal of the day, served with mashed potatoes and veggies.

While taking us on his walkabout, Phelps answers fans’ questions along the way. ‘When is the wedding?’ one fan asks, to which Phelps replies, “the wedding will be at the end of the year.”

The GOAT is also asked about his favorite event, to which Phelps responds as “either the 200 IM or 100 fly.” The now-Tempe, Arizona resident also describes to viewers that he and his squadmates survive 10 workouts a week at about 1 1/2-2 hrs per workout. But, at least in Colorado, he’s still managed to log about 450 games of ‘Call of Duty’ in the last 2 weeks.

No baby names are revealed, although Phelps does remind fans that his fiancée Nicole Johnson is now over 37 weeks along, so ‘Baby P’ is due to meet the world in just a couple of short weeks.

The food was good, if I remember correctly! He should be out hiking in the mountains instead of sitting in his room playing Call of Duty ;). JK… When I went we played GTA in our downtime, but we did go hiking around the base of Pike’s Peak in the Garden of the Gods.

I LOVE these chats! I can’t participate live, because I’m at work, but I do enjoy watching them, so thanks for posting them here Swimswam staff! As a fan, it is so wonderful to see MP “unscripted”, as he used to be during interviews in the past, so I can get a better idea who he is as a person rather than just as a competitor.
