Days after news broke that Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson have actually been married since June, the couple formally tied the knot in a wedding ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on October 29th. SwimSwam earlier reported that Phelps and Johnson have actually been married since June 13th, and were planning to have a ceremony after the Rio Olympics.
Phelps, who had a historic performance in Rio that brought his career total to 23 Olympic gold medals, proposed to Johnson, the former Miss California, back in February 2015. A little over a year later, their son, Boomer Robert Phelps, was born. The two have had an on-again, off-again relationship since 2007, but reconciled in 2014 after Phelps was arrested for a DUI and underwent mental health treatment.
The wedding took place on Friday at the El Dorado Golf and Beach Club with about 50 of the couple’s closest friends and family. Neither Phelps nor his long-time coach Bob Bowman were present at Arizona State’s meet this past weekend where they hosted the University of Denver. Bowman is now the head coach at Arizona State and Phelps is serving as a volunteer assistant. Associate head coach Ryan Mallam guided the team in Bowman’s absence.
The celebrations may not be over just yet, as Johnson has talked about planning a larger event after having their small, intimate ceremony. She was earlier quoted by “Access Hollywood” as saying, “We have a date. It’ll be small and intimate for the wedding, and then we’re throwing a massive bash for everyone in the States.”

Dat leg tho
Cool wedding.
Congratulations to both of them. She looks so beautiful in her dress, but then she would be beautiful in anything. Both look perfect for an outdoor wedding. I spy Schmitty and Boomer in the background.
Cool.
felicidades for your formal marriage Michael!, I hope your stay in my lovely country is letting both of you to enjoy this special event.
Congratulations to Michael and Nicole!! I should add that even though the ASU coaching staff must have known why Coach Bowman was not at the meet, no one said anything about the ceremony that I heard and I was down on the deck photographing the meet!
Now I know why coach Bob Bowman and Michael were not at the ASU v Denver swim meet in Tempe yesterday!
Congrats to them and I love her dress
