Due to issues with the timing system at the ISCA meet which caused swimmers’ times to appear .39 faster than they actually were, times listed below have been adjusted to reflect USA Swimming’s decision to add .39 seconds to times swum at Wednesday prelims, Wednesday finals, Wednesday time trials, Thursday prelims, and Thursday time trials sessions. Read more about the decision here.
9 or so hours after setting a lifettime best of 51.24 in prelims, Michael Andrew lowered his time six more one-hundredths with a 51.18 at finals of the TYR Junior National Cup.
Andrew, swimming for his Race Pace Club, cut under his 51.24 from prelims to win the final by well over two seconds. The junior event is christening the brand-new pool at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Andrew is now the second-fastest in 17-18 age group history. Reece Whitley holds the NAG at 51.16. Andrew is now .14 than Cordes was as an under-18. The swim punctuates an explosion of fast age group breaststroke times, as his swim, Whitley’s and #4 Max McHugh‘s swims have all come in the past five weeks.
Top 17-18 Peformers All-Time: Men’s SCY 100 Breast
- Reece Whitley – 51.16
- Michael Andrew – 51.18
- Kevin Cordes – 51.32
- Max McHugh – 51.62
- Andrew Seliskar – 51.78
Yeah I don’t think so, his time +.39 is slower than Whitely by .02. ??
Yes. He had the 2nd fastest time for US swimmers in the 50 free last year. Was 4th at OTs in the 100 breast.
And Seliskar just swam a hell of a 200y free, so he might be ready to do some stuff, too. That we expect all really talented high schoolers to be Phelps is sorta nuts. (Dressel was making teams as a teen, but didn’t really break through until last year, when I believe he was 20 or 21.)
Love MA and this swim is straight bonkers but it’s time to get real…. who is more irritating on the blocks? MA, with his self-clap love fest or MP with his arrogant, year-round-club-swimmer boutta stomp a HS-season-only-swimmer in a worthless HS duel meet, triple arm flap, shake out?
And who will be the first swimmer to finally get up on the blocks and just scream “You all SUCKKKK!!!”
It’s also worth mentioning that he went a 1:42.7 in his 200 IM this morning
He’s just lucky Farris wasn’t around. He had a 48.00 coming for MA.
yeah but like. coulda still gone faster.
Timing system fixed?
