Swim Ontario’s Ontario Junior International Swim Meet, being held from December 5th-7th, 2014 at the Pan Am Sports Centre, has earned the participation of at least two high-profile groups of American juniors.
For one, the Nation’s Capital Swim Club will be in town. While no specific swimmers from that club have committed, Swim Ontario mentions that Andrew Seliskar, Megan Byrnes, and Carsten Vissering .
In addition, 15-year old pro swimmer, and one of the most prolific National Age Group Record holders in U.S. history, Michael Andrew will be attending the meet.
Among the other high-profile swimmers will be Provincial teams from Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Ontario.
All will descend upon the brilliant new pool being built for the 2015 Pan Am Games at the University of Toronto, Scarborough campus. Among the attractive features is a “competition subsidy” of $120 CDN per day, per athlete to international federations to compete at the meet.
The meet will be held in short course meters, and is the week before this year’s Tom Dolan Invitational: a major junior-level meet in Maryland that is hosted by NCAP. It’s also the week before Winter Junior Nationals.
Smart for him to stay at the Junior level for now, that’s where he should be. Plenty of time to swim with the big boys when he is ready!
I don’t think staying at Junior level is his own choice as much as it is a necessity.
