Miami University Adds Distance Specialist Ralph Fiscus To Class Of 2027

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Ralph Fiscus of Park City, Utah, has announced his decision to continue his education and swimming career at Miami University in Ohio. Fiscus is wrapping up his senior year at Park City High School, and is set to arrive in Oxford for the 2023-2024 season.

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at Miami OH University! I am so grateful for all of the love and support from all of my family, friends, and coaches at Wasatch Front Fish Market. Go RedHawks!”

Fiscus trains year-round with the Wasatch Front Fish Market in Sandy, Utah, where he focuses mainly on distance freestyle events. He capped off his short course season at the Austin Speedo Sectionals last month, where he set best times in many of his primary events. Highlighting his meet was his 5th place finish in the 1000 freestyle, where he recorded a 9:21.93 to take nearly 14 seconds off his previous best from 2022.

He has also seen tremendous improvement in the 1650 this year. He logged a 15:49.17 to finish 11th at Sectionals, marking a personal best time by over three seconds. He entered the season with a best time of 16:11.87, meaning he’s taken over 20 seconds off over the course of the year.

In addition to the freestyle events, Fiscus has also seen success in the 400 IM. He finished 19th at Sectionals, clocking a 4:01.26 in finals for a best time by three seconds. It’s another event he’s rapidly improving in, with his season best time from 2022 standing at 4:13.32.

Top SCY Times:

  • 500 free – 4:32.90
  • 1000 free – 9:21.93
  • 1650 free – 15:49.17
  • 200 IM – 1:55.03
  • 400 IM – 4:01.26

The RedHawks recently won their third straight Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships, where they topped Missouri State by a 41-point margin. The team was led by junior Henju Duvenhage, who won the 200 IM and 200 fly individually.

Fiscus’ best time in the 1650 would have earned 6th at this year’s conference meet, while his best times in the 500 free and 400 IM would have landed him comfortably inside the B-final. The top performers in the 1650 this year was freshman Evan Kindseth and sophomore Tommy Frye, who finished 2nd (15:38.02) and 5th (15:47.67), respectively.

Fiscus is joined by Clark Pabst, Joe Miller, Aiden Jacobs, George Clark, and Ian Wihebrink  in the RedHawk’s incoming class of 2027. Clark also swims distance freestyle and owns best times of 4:36.21/9:35.56 in the 500/1000.
