McKendree University’s brand-new women’s swimming and diving team is into its inaugural season and has already secured a trio of talented swimmers for the 2017-18 season. In addition to Karlie Rimat and Meredith Geyer, about whom we have already written, Victoria Sananikone from Cedar Park, Texas, has agreed to make Lebanon, Illinois her home for the next four years.
“I absolutely love the close knit team who instantly welcomed me on my visit and the beautiful campus. I know that I will receive a top notch education at Mckendree within their small class sizes taught by professors who truly care about the success of their students. Coach Tierney is building a very strong program and I have no doubt that he will help me tremendously in achieving my goals!”
Sananikone is a senior at Cedar Park High School, where she has scored in the top 8 of the 100 fly at the Texas 5A State Championships for the last two years in a row. She also swims year-round for Lost Creek Aquatics. She competed both at Austin Sectionals and the USA Swimming Futures Championships in Austin this summer, swimming the 100m free and 100/200m fly. Earlier in the season she finaled in the 100 fly at College Station Sectionals, where she also competed in the 100/200 free and 200 fly.
