McCabe Out Of Grand Prix Due To A Stress Fracture Of Her Clavicle

Canadian Olympian and 200 breaststroke bronze medalist at the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai Martha McCabe will have to pull out of the Austin Grand Prix due to a small stress fracture of her clavicle. McCabe was entered in the Grand Prix as a representative of Swim Ontario, but will not make the trip to Austin.

McCabe who finished fifth in the Olympics and eighth in the 200 breaststroke in Barcelona will still be able to train with a modified program and will rejoin the team at a training camp in Florida that begins in the next couple of weeks. The specific cause of the injury is not known, but as with most stress fractures it most likely occurred due to repetitive force put on the area of injury.

McCabe trains with Ben Titley at the National Swim Centre – Ontario and is currently ranked 10th in the world for the short course 200 breaststroke swimming a 2:19.85 at the World Cup in Berlin.
