Matthew Klotz Rebreaks Own Deaf World Record in 100 Back

Dealympics Champion Matthew Klotz continues to punch through Deaf Swimming World Records, swimming a 58.31 in prelims today at the 2014 Santa Clara Grand Prix. That just snuck under his 58.35 done in February of this year, and is the 3rd time in 12 months that he’s broken this World Record.

“I’m in the middle of summer training so I’m not tapering until Junior Nats,” the Sierra Marlins swimmer said. “I wasn’t expecting a best time but I felt relaxed and in control. I am really excited to make it back for the B-Final.”

That time will put him through to the B-Final in 16th overall after prelims, coming after winning the C Final on Saturday night in the 200 in 2:06.23 (not a best time or a new record).

Klotz, who is still uncommitted but will be starting college somewhere in the fall, won both the 100 and 200 meter backstrokes at the 2013 Summer Deaflympics
