Last weekend at the Bermen Cup European Short Course Championship 100 freestyle bronze medalist, Italian Marco Orsi recorded an Italian textile best in the 100 freestyle posting a 46.40.
The Italian record of 46.26 was set by Filippo Magnini in 2009 was done in a polyurethane suit. Orsi recently beat the textile best which was also set by Magnini in 2005 when he swam 46.52. Coming into the season Orsi had a textile best of 47.36 and has improved at a steady pace throughout the year putting up a 46.49 in Herning, which earned him a bronze.
Ori’s time this weekend is good enough to take over the 5th place ranking in the world, a place that Russian Danila Izotov occupied with a time of 46.41 that he posted in Herning to grab the silver medal ahead of Orsi.
