Marat Amaltdinov Breaks 2:10 to Win 200 Breaststroke At 2014 Russia Cup

The final day of the Russia Cup concluded with the women’s 200 IM, 200 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 50 freestyle, and the men’s 200 breaststroke, 200 IM, and 50 butterfly.

Vitalina Simonova won the first event of the day, the women’s 200 IM with her time of 2:13.19.

The next event was the men’s 200 breaststroke. Marat Amaltdinov had the 8th fastest time in the world this year to win the event with his time of 2:09.77. Michael Doreen was second with a 2:11.99.

Veronika Popova had a strong 200 freestyle, taking it out in 56.29. She won with a final time of 1:56.93. 

Alexander Tikhonov was just shy of breaking 2 minutes to win the men’s 200 IM. He posted a final time of 2:00.39.

Vladislav Grey had the fastest time of the meet in the men’s 50 butterfly, posting a time of 23.77 for the win. 

In the final event of the day, Elizabeth Bazarova broke the meet record to win the women’s 50 freestyle at 24.82. Rosalia Nasretdinova was also under 25 seconds, finishing second with a time of 24.97.
