WOMEN’S RECAP
UNLV closed the women’s meet with a bang, going 1-2 in the women’s 400 free relay. Blanka Bokros (53.01), Bridget Sullivan (52.01), Erika Carlson (51.81), and Malia Fernandez (51.86) combined on UNLV’s ‘A’ relay to win the event in 3:28.69. The ‘B’ relay, made up of Kyra Tonsil (53.05), Averi Webb (51.43), Marta Klimek (52.70), and Teneka Ash (53.76), swam a 3:30.94, finishing second. Notably, Scarlett Cao led the UNLV ‘C’ relay off in 52.79, faster than the ‘A’ or ‘B’ lead-offs swam.
Having swum on the winning 400 free relay, UNLV’s Malia Fernandez also swept the women’s sprint free events. Fernandez posted a 23.66 in the 50 free, touching 0.10 seconds ahead of teammate Pilar Cohen. She then went on to win the women’s 100 free in 51.72, which was actually faster than she ended up swimming on the anchor of the 400 free relay at the end of the meet.
BYU won the women’s 200 medley relay in 1:42.97. Charlotte Fie’eiki (26.16), Mackenzie Miller (28.98), Rachel Oyler (24.44), and Brynn Sproul (23.39) teamed up to earn the win. UNLV’s ‘A’ relay came in second but was disqualified for an early take-off.
BYU’s Brynn Sproul would go on from that relay to win the women’s 200 back, swimming a 2:03.59. She swam a tightly-split race, going 1:01.20 on the first 100, then coming home in 1:02.39.
UNLV’s Erika Carlson was a double event winner, taking the women’s 200 free and 500 free. Carlson led a 1-2 charge in the women’s 200 free, swimming a 1:51.61, just ahead of teammate Marta Klimek, who came in second with a 1:51.99.
Carlson then swam a 5:02.55 to win the women’s 500 free, again leading a 1-2 charge by the Rebels. This time, fellow freshman Kayleigh Lovell came in second with a 5:04.88. Lovell had previously won the women’s 1000 free earlier in the meet, swimming a 10:22.59.
UNLV posted a 1-2 finish in the women’s 200 fly, where Gabby Lizzul won the race with a 2:06.60. Teammate Teneka Ash clocked a 2:07.53 for second. The Rebels also won the women’s 200 breast, with Calysta Bartlett earning a win with the 2:19.15.
BYU’s Katie McBratney-Graves won the women’s 200 IM in 2:05.91.

Though he swam fly on the 200 medley relay, BYU’s Javier Nicolas would go on to sweep the sprint free events. Nicolas clocked a 20.45 in the 50 free, touching out UNLV’s Bryson Huey, who came in second with a 20.50. He then won another very tight race in the 100 free, swimming a 44.96.
