Male Survivor Gives Vieth Report Recommendations Positive Feedback in Peer Review

The National Child Protection Training Center (NCPTC) asked MaleSurvivor: the National Organization Against Male Sexual Victimization (MaleSurvivor) to peer review the report written by Mr. Vieth assessing USA Swimming’s Safe Sport Program.  Founded in 1993, MaleSurvivor is the oldest and largest non-profit organization “serving the needs of male survivors of sexual violence” in the United States.

The peer review commended USAS for requesting this review and then publicly releasing the full report.  Christopher Anderson, Executive Director of MaleSurvivor, believes that if USAS accepts and implements many of Mr. Vieth’s 39 recommendations, these will have a positive impact and help ensure that our swimmers will be free from “all forms of child abuse, no matter where the abuse occurs.”  Mr. Anderson’s complete comments can be read here http://www.pr.com/press-release/539301.

The task force USAS appointed to review all 39 recommendations found in the report will offer its opinion of which recommendations to pursue and how to implement them.  It will present its findings at the USAS Board of Directors meeting on May 3.
