Lydia Knutson Breaks Her Own School Record At Northwestern TYR Invite

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — Freshman Lydia Knutson broke her own school record as the Air Force women’s swimming and diving team completed the first day of competition at the Northwestern TYR Invitational, Friday, Nov. 18, in Evanston, Ill.

Northwestern is in first place with 305.5 points while Michigan State is second (282), Grand Canyon is third (261), Air Force is fourth (207.5), Truman State is fifth (122), Illinois-Chicago is sixth (99) and St. Louis is seventh (80)

Knutson broke her own school record, set earlier this season, by placing third in the 50 free with a time of 23.18. Freshman Kayla Wofford placed sixth in three-meter diving (260.15) while sophomore Bella Farrell was eighth (249.60). Freshman Shayle Finnesand was fifth in the 50 breast stroke with a time of 29.31.

In the 200 free relay, the team of Knutson, Brianna Mount, Elise Hart and Jinan Andrews was fourth with time of 1:33.88. In the 400 medley relay, the team of Emma Strom, Shayle Finnesand, Elise Hart and Genevieve Miller was third in a time of 3:45.80.

Senior Genevieve Miller was second in 500 free, breaking the previous pool record, with an NCAA “B” time of 4:42.42. In the 50 back, Emma Strom was fourth (25.78) and Autumn Wolfgramm was fifth (26.17).

Junior Jinan Andrews was seventh in the 200 IM (2:05.22) and was sixth in the 50 free (23.68).

The meet continues on Saturday, Nov. 19, in Evanston, Ill.
