Lucheon Joins Wabash College Swimming and Diving Coaching Staff

Jake Lucheon has joined the Wabash College swimming and diving team as an assistant coach. Lucheon comes to the Little Giants’ program after serving as a graduate assistant at Auburn University last year. He earned a master’s in exercise science from Auburn with a concentration in motor behavior and sports and exercise psychology. While at Auburn he helped the coaching staff organize recruiting events and travel logistics, filmed competitions and practices for training purposes, and worked with the Auburn Pro Group.

Prior to his work at Auburn, Lucheon competed at Southern Illinois University, where he graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science exercise science. He competed as a Saluki swimmer, helping to set the school record in the 200 medley relay in 2014 and earning a place as a finalist in the 100 butterfly at the Mid-American Conference Championships from 2011 to 2014. Lucheon served as the team’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council representative from 2011-2013 and was captain of the team from 2012-2013. He received Honorable Mention Academic All-Conference honors from the MAC from 2012-2014.

“Jake brings a really strong interest in developing with our program,” Wabash head coach Brent Noble said. “Jake has a great pedigree. Last year he worked at a university that produces some of the best swimmers in our sport. He is a very motivated coach who wants to grow and is excited about the opportunities coming to Wabash present. As we move forward as a program, Jake is someone who will help the team grow and will also grow with us.”

In addition to his work at Auburn, Lucheon served as the assistant swim coach for the Fox Den Country Club, working as an assistant coach for three years before taking over as head coach in 2014. His duties included the creation of practice programs for the team along with private lessons, as well as scheduling and running meets.

Lucheon has also worked as a hospital volunteer at the University of Tennessee Hospital emergency room, was an assistant religious education teacher at Sacred Heart Cathedral from 2009-2010, and provided swim lessons for the Southern Illinois University Army ROTC program in 2013.

Lucheon begins his duties as assistant coach at Wabash immediately.
