The Division II LIU Post Women took down Division I CCSU on Saturday with a score of 165-94. For CCSU Senior Kathryn Kiely and freshman Christine Rasile led the Blue Devils with the only two CCSU victories. Kiely claimed the top spot in the 1000 yard freestyle with her time of 10:53.23 while Rasile touched the wall first in the 200 Free with her time of 1:57.18. Coming in just behind Kiely in the 1000 free was classmate Kasey Chilton who notched a time of 10:53.37. Rasile also claimed a pair of individual second-place finishes in the 100 free (54.27) and the 50 free (25.04).
But the day was overshadowed by LIU Post picking up victories in all but 2 events. Leading the Charge was Sophomore Joyce Kwok, who is the defending National Champion in the 200 Butterfly, picked up a pair of NCAA-B Cuts in both butterfly events. She won the 100 in a 56.14 and swam away with the 200 in a 2:04.39 almost 10 seconds a head of the closest competitor. Tamara Garriock swept the 100 and 200 Breaststrokes with times of 1:07.29 and 2:26.46. Completing the sweep of the non-freestyle events was Johanna Pettersson who took both the 100 and 200 Backstrokes in 58.70 and 2:04.73 respectively.
CCSU takes the pool again on Saturday, Oct. 19 as the travel to take on Rutgers. That meet has a 10 a.m. start time.
LIU Post hits the waters again on October 30 as they travel to Queens College (N.Y.) That meet is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
