Swimming last week in Mexico City at the Short Course National Championships, Lili Ibanez set her 2nd Mexican National Record of the month. After tying her own record in the 50 fly at a masters meet early in the month, Ibanez has now undercut her record in the 50 free.
She swam a 24.84 in the 50 free, which broke her own record of 24.88 set at this same meet in 2012.
Ibanez holds 12 Mexican Records in total: 8 individual, and 4 relays. That includes the 50, 100, and 200 meter freestyles in both short course and long course meters.
Ibanez spent time training with Coley Stickels in California before Stickels was hired as a new assistant coach at Indiana. Ibanez is now back training in College Station at Texas A&M, where she swam in college, while planning her path forward.
