Junior Paul Le was named MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Le helped the Bears to a second-place finish in the Show-Me Showdown at Missouri’s Mizzou Aquatics Center on Friday, Oct. 4 to open the season. He won the 100-yard backstroke in 48.50 and 200-yard individual medley in 1:49.26. His backstroke time was fourth in the country behind swimmers from Florida, Michigan and Florida State at the time of the meet.
Le also won the 400 free relay with Uvis Kalnins, Vitalii Baryshok and Caleb Schuermann in a time of 3:01.81.
A Moore, Okla., native, Le was also part of the Bears’ 200 medley relay squad which took second in that event in 1:30.86.
The honor is the third of Le’s career. He was also tabbed MAC Swimmer of the Week Jan. 23 and Oct. 24 last season.
The Bears were off last week but are back in action in the exhibition alumni/intrasquad meet Saturday at Hammons Student Center at 5 p.m. Missouri State returns to regular-season competition, hosting Drury Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.
