— Lauryn Parrish (@lauryn_parrish) September 11, 2016
Parrish, who swims for both Fishers High School and the Fishers Area Swimming Tigers, is primarily a short-to-middle distance freestyler, with complimentary skills in the backstroke races.
Best Times in yards:
- 50 free – 23.50
- 100 free – 50.49
- 200 free – 1:47.64
- 500 free – 4:54.81
- 100 back – 56.89
- 200 back – 2:00.15
With the graduation of Chelsie Miller, one of the best swimmers in program history, the Jayhawks will be looking for a new identity, and when she arrives in the fall of 2017, Parrish is good enough that she could be the program’s new star.
Her best time in her best event, the 200 free, already ranks better than all but 3 swimmers in program history.
The team’s best 200 freestyler last season was freshman Haley Bishop in 1:48.98.
Kansas took 2nd place at last year’s Big 12 Championships behind only the powerhouse Texas Longhorns.
Parrish placed 4th in the 200 free and 6th in the 100 free at the 2016 Indiana High School State Championship meet.
