16-year-old Regan Smith (59.75) just barely squeaked out the win over reigning world champion Kylie Masse (59.76). Georgia’s Olivia Smoliga was just behind in 59.96.
15-year-old Isabelle Stadden took fourth in 1:00.66, followed by Ali DeLoof in 1:00.70 and Amy Bilquist in 1:01.16.
Masse is a great ambassador for Canadian swimming. She’s won a world title, set a world record, and this year won 2 golds at the Commonwealth Games.
Really the only thing she hasn’t achieved is the Olympic gold medal. Some swimmers peak between Olympics, but maybe her streak of success will continue for 2 more years until Tokyo 2020.
Canadians girls are tough, but in my heart, I consider Ruck an American (she came over as a baby).
