Kelsey Dambacher from Quest Swimming and Cosby High School in Virginia has verbally committed to the Florida Gators.
Daubacher is primarily a short freestyler, with Winter Juniors cuts in the 50, 100, and 200 yard (and meters in the 50 and 100) freestyles. Her best times in yards all came in 2014, but her long course rose to match in 2015 with best times in all three races over the summer.
Best times in yards:
- 50 free – 23.40
- 100 free – 50.87
- 200 free – 1:49.66
According to her mother Cyndi, Florida was also encouraged by Kelsey’s backstroke potential in addition to the three above events – she’s been 56.12 over 100 yards of that stroke. The encouragement of a second stroke is always probable in a Gregg Troy program where it’s very rare to find a swimmer who excels in only one stroke.
Florida has some young sprint talent waiting in the wings, but Daumbacher should arrive in a position to immediately contend for spots on the Gators’ relays in the first year after the graduation of star Natalie Hinds.
Kelsey is the 3rd of 4 children in her family, but the only swimmer among them.
