Katherine Drabot Doubles Up On Day Two Of Minneapolis Sectional

The second day of the 2015 Minneapolis Sectional Championship meet only featured three events; the 200 freestyle, 400 IM, and the 100 backstroke. The men’s events were hit and miss, but Katherine Drabot was a model of consistentcy on the women’s side.

The 17 year-old from Okaukee Aquatics doubled up on the night, winning the Women’s 200 Freestyle and the Women’s 400 IM. She led Danielle Valley to the wall in the 200, and both swimmers earned Olympic Trials qualifying times. Drabot was the only swimmer in the field to break two minutes with her time of 1:59.25.

In her second event, she and Hannah Kastigar finished first and second in the women’s 200IM, earning Olympic Trial Qualifying times.

On the men’s side, Matthew Hutchins was the only swimmer to break 1:50, winning the event with a  1:49.25. The three swimmers that finished behind him earned Olympic trial cuts as well.

Other winners from Thursday include:

  • Men’s 400 IM – Joe Park, 4:27.93
  • Women’s 100 Backstroke – Elizabeth Nelson  1:02.28
  • Men’s 100 Backstroke – Daryl Turner, 55.88
