Chelsea Piers Aquatics Club shattered another relay meet and pool record, this time on the women’s 200 free relay, posting a 1:31.82. The relay had a stellar start, with Bridget Semenuk leading off in 22.66, and Katherine Douglass throwing down a 21.80 on the 2nd leg. That 44.46 split on the 1st half of the race came on the backs of a pair of 16 year olds. For reference, their 1st 100 was almost 4 seconds faster then the next fastest team’s. The back half of the race was very solid for Chelsea Piers as well, with Kaki Christensen (17) and Sophia Moore (16) splitting 23.67 and 23.69 respectively.

14 year old Natalie Mannion built up an early lead in the women’s 200 back, and held onto it to win by about a second. Mannion’s final time of 1:57.93 was a personal best ny about half a second, and lands her 55th in the all-time rankings for 13-14 girls. Mannion wasn’t out super fast for someone who finished so far under 2 minutes, hitting the 50 mark in 5th at 28.99. Where Mannion took control of the race and never looked back was the 2nd 50, where she split 29.26. She then finished up with 30.07 and 29.61 splits, marking 100s of 58.25 and 59.68. The 200 back A final stuck with this meet’s theme of young talent, featuring 3 14 year olds and 3 15 year olds. 14 year olds Joy Jiang and Kiana Guarino came in 7th and 8th, and 15 year olds Megan Deuel, Lauren Aylmer, and Sydney Sorbello came in 2nd, 4th, and 6th.

Michigan recruit Jared Daigle was slightly off his prelims time, but still managed to win the race by a full second. Daigle was 1:47.65 in prelims, and almost duplicated that lifetime best in finals with a 1:47.73. Daigle was out in 25.23, and was very consistent in the last 3 50s, splitting 27.19, 27.65, and 27.66 respectively. That was almost exactly the same splitting as he went in prelims, showing great consistency from Daigle.

In an incredibly tight women’s 100 free, Christiana Regenauer got her hand on the wall 1st, touching in 49.35 to runner-up Bridget Semenuk‘s 49.39, and 3rd place finisher Katherine Douglass‘ 49.45. The trio split the race almost exactly the same, with Regenauer going out in 23.79 and coming back in 25.56, Semenuk was 23.63/25.76, and Douglass was 23.78/25.67. Regenauer’s time was a personal best by .01 seconds, and Semenuk was under 50 for the first time ever.

Apologies, the best race on the last night of finals was left out of the summary above.
The women’s 200 IM was yet another photo finish between Katherine Douglass (2:01:88) and Bridget Semenuk (2:01:35) both of whom had also led their CPAC ladies squad to that sizzling 200 free time busting the pool and the meet record. Congrats to both these ladies for bringing the heat on the last night of a long meet.
