DUTCH NATIONAL TEAM TIME TRIAL
- Friday, April 30th
- Eindhoven, Netherlands
- LCM (50m)
- Results
Dutch national teamers were back at it, racing at another exclusive time trial in their native Netherlands. Breaststroking ace Arno Kamminga took full advantage of the opportunity to fine-tune his skills 84 days out from this summer’s Olympic Games, with the 25-year-old firing off a new national record in the 100m breaststroke.
Kamminga stopped the clock today in Eindhoven in a wicked-quick 58.42. Racing himself, that was enough to slice .01 off of his own previous Dutch national standard in the 100m breast event, which stood at 58.43 from March of 2020.
Today, Kamminga opened in 27.31 and closed in 31.12 to make the new mark. Compare that to his 2020 swim where the Dutchman opened in 27.62 and brought it home in 30.81 for a notable difference in strategy.
In terms of all-time performers, Kamminga’s result here keeps the man ranked 4th around the world, positioned only behind Olympic champion and world record-holder Adam Peaty, Belarus’ Ilya Shymanovich and now Italy’s newly-minted national record holder Nicolo Martinenghi.
Men’s 100 Breaststroke All-Time Performers
- Adam Peaty (GBR), 56.88 2019
- Ilya Shymanovich (BLR), 58.29 2019
- Nicolo Martinenghi (ITA), 58.37 2021
- Arno Kamminga (NED), 58.42 2021
- James Wilby (GBR), 58.46 2019
Looking at the rankings for just this season, Kamminga’s record-setting outing here keeps him ranked as the 3rd fastest performer worldwide.

It must be a weird mindset being an elite men’s sprint breastroker (or women’s distance freestyler for that matter) at the moment.
These are hyper competitive people, who’ve probably viewed silver as first loser most of their lives, but now they’re in a position where there is almost zero chance of winning Olympic gold, even if they swim a time which makes them second fastest performer in history.
Be interesting to get the take of a Kamminga, Wilby, Leah Smith, Quadrella etc. about how they deal with that psychologically.
Considering that Smith at most would get a bronze now.. (Or you think she will beat Titmus?)
Will Titmus swim the 8 and the 15? I got the impression she was focussing more on the 2 and the 4 now?
Taking on Ledecky across the full slate just feels like setting herself up for a lot of pain and minor medals, but if she focuses on middle distance I think she could win 2 golds.
She got bronze at 800 on world. I expect her to swim 200/400/800
Leah was with Ledecky in all her winning relays. But wasn’t selected to swim in the last one, the most successful (American record). The competition in 200 for 5 places on relay at OT will be very strong. The probability is far from zero that she may not make it.
I feel like Ledecky is in a great place. Her swims in Cali showed that. She will be fine with 2,4,8,1500. Also the relays, she is going to rack up golds
I wish you to feel well, especially during this terrible time of pandemic. But honestly, who cares what we are feeling now but CDC 😀
Yes, Titmus is gonna scratch an event she could get a bronze or silver in, because any Olympic medal other than gold is irrelevant. Ridiculous lol.
Also someone like Lazlo Cseh, who was born in precisely the wrong era to be a fly/IM specialist.
Or maybe they’re as good as they are in part because of the standard set by Peaty, Ledecky, etc. (similar to how Phelps pulled up Lochte/Cseh during the golden years).
In Other news
Yufei just casually went 55,96 100 fly on prelims

Was the first to announce the WR of mixed medley
Probably someone with sources inside the federation
😂 We don’t have any inside resources. We are just swim fans. There is always live stream on Chinese platform for national competition.
I did not see this coming!!!!
But that was exactly What a source would say
Now speaking seriously.
There is a list of which event will be each day? Could you share?
The schedule is the same as the Olympics.
