Junior Nationals Qualifier Tomohiro Nozaki Takahashi Commits to Georgetown

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Georgetown University has picked up a verbal commitment from Summer and Winter Junior Nationals qualifier Tomohiro Nozaki Takahashi for the fall of 2022. The breaststroke specialist is currently a senior at the Bolles School in Florida and he swims year-round with the Bolles School Sharks.

I am SUPER stoked to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the Georgetown University! Thank you so much to @bolles_school_sharks @bollesschool  for given me the opportunity to study and swim for these past 3 years and giving me an phenomenal experience and an awesome team! Muchísimas gracias a mi equipo de @asf_athletics @asfmex en México y a mis hermanos y hermanas quienes me han apoyado en llegar en donde estoy hoy. 僕の家族や日本にいる友達にもいつもの応援本当にありがとうございます。I can’t wait for an amazing and unimaginable adventure for the next 4 years at Washington, DC! Hoya Saxa!

Nozaki has begun his final season of high school swimming. Last November, the Bolles junior competed at the Florida High School 1A State Championship. He picked up a bronze medal in the 200 IM (1:51.18) and he touched 6th in the 100 breast (56.36). He also earned a gold medal for the boys’ 400 free relay. He anchored the race in a 100 free time of 46.44, beating Saint Andrews. The Bolles men’s team ultimately took home the championship title.

Nozaki is a Winter Junior Nationals qualifier in the 100 breast and a Summer Junior qualifier in the 200 breast and the 100 fly.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 breast – 56.24
  • 200 breast – 2:00.86
  • 200 IM – 1:51.18
  • 400 IM – 3:58.91

Georgetown did not compete in any meets during the 2020-2021 season. In 2020, the men’s team finished second behind Xavier University at the Big East Conference Championships. Nozaki’s top times would have earned him spots in the A-finals of the 100 and 200 breast and the 200 and 400 IM.

His best times in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 IM, and 400 IM would already place him in the top 10 in school history, including 3rd place in the 200 breaststroke. That’s a group where Georgetown has really been improving rapidly in recent years: the three fastest swimmers in the 200 breast in program history all went best times at the 2020 Big East Championships.

Nozaki will be joining sprinter Nick Pezzella and IM and distance freestyler Conor Jellig as a member of the Hoyas’ class of 2026.
