Dayton Raiders (Dayton, Ohio) Brock Turner has given a verbal commitment to the Stanford Cardinal this evening. Turner is part of an elite group of high school men that as a group of four finished 3rd at Junior Nationals this summer.
Under the direction of Kevin Weldon and Gary Galbreath, Turner had a breakout year of swimming. This past summer in Irvine, he finished 4th in the 400 freetyle (3:55.22), 6th in the 200 freestyle (1:51.44) and 6th in the 800 freestyle (8:10.33), 3rd in the 200 backstroke (2:02.00-P), 11th in the 400 IM (4:24.36-P) and 25th in the 200 IM (2:06.97).
His time in the 800 freestyle made him the fastest 18 & under male ever in the event in the state of Ohio. His 200 backstroke earned him a spot onto the Junior National team.
He would combine with his three teammates that were out in California to finished 3rd in the both the 400 medley and 800 freestyle relays. Their time in the 800 freestyle relay broke one of the oldest Ohio relay records in the books (33 year old record) in the men’s open 800 freestyle relay.
In December 2012, at short course USA Junior Nationals in Knoxville Tennessee, he put on a show finishing 2nd in the 500 freestyle, 10th in the 400 IM, 13th in the 200 freestyle, 9th in the 200 backstroke and 21st in the 200 IM.
His best short course yard times to date are 1:39.21/4:22.73/9:11.61 200/500/1000 freestyles, 1:46.36 200 backstroke, and 1:50.13/3:51.89 200 & 400 IM. His 500 freestyle, 400 IM and 200 backstroke all would have scored at last years PAC 12 meet. He will have great training partners in Justin Buck, David Nolan, Drew Cosgarea, Danny Thomson and Max Williamson to take the next step onto the NCAA level.
This past winter, Turner won two Ohio High School DII titles for the Oakwood Lumberjacks. He finished first in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. His high school would go on to win the first Dayton area men’s state title in over 80 years.
The Cardinal have quite the impressive incoming class, including Patrick Conaton, Curtis Ogren, Andrew Liang, Liam Egan and Wes Olmsted.
There’s a bathing suit somewhere? Is this degree of bareness typical for swimmers now?
This guy has weird eyes, like Adam Lanza and James Holmes. Reported that he used MJ, LSD, and excessive alcohol. Something isn’t right with this person.
He is a convicted rapist.
