Josh explains what went into this decision and his reaction to the SwimSwam commentor’s reactions. We also get deep in the weeds on Zuchowski’s swimming background, including what it has meant to have his father as his coach since he was 11.

Welcome to the Farm! I didn’t swim at Stanford but I had good friends who did. Stanford changed all of our lives — it’s a different school than any other. Rubbing shoulders with exceptional talents in so many fields (Stanford’s acceptance rate is usually the lowest in the country) makes for humility, new perspectives, widening horizons, and deepening of values. And, for the rest of your life, you will have that Stanford degree. There’s really no equal.
Excited for what is to come for Stanford with Dan and Neil. If I was a new recruit I wouldn’t want to say that “our class and the ones behind us are building blocks of the new Stanford.” Sorry class of 2024 and before- you were the old Stanford. Not the best way to create the team continuity.
I am not confused. It’s just a sports cliche often used after a poor season or a few down years. He is not even there for another year so the new beginning is likely to start without him
Poor choice of words. The Stanford Swimmers, both male and female, are fabulous and I’m sure they all chose to go to Stanford for the same reason he did. They are amazing for what they have endured the last year in Palo Alto- very different atmosphere then in Florida. I’m sure he meant no disrespect but words count.

Josh is an mazing young man. He was so well- spoken and the questions from Coleman were fantastic. Love to hear about the process and the journey he had taken. Apparently these recruits do read the comment section. So be nice everyone. And from what Josh said about the girl’s 2022 class, there would be some more coming.
