Johns Hopkins head swimming coach Scott Armstrong has announced the Blue Jays’ 2017-18 schedule. In the nine-event schedule, the Blue Jays will face more than 15 Division I teams and will have two home events.
Hopkins opens the season on Saturday October 7 at William & Mary. JHU will then travel to Annapolis to take on Navy and Towson on Friday, October 20. Two weeks later, the team is back in Baltimore for the two-day Thomas Murphy Invitational at Loyola, which also includes Drexel and West Chester.
Hopkins will travel to Princeton, NJ the first weekend of December for the Princeton Invitational. In addition to the host Tigers, the Invitational also features Brown, Dartmouth, Villanova, William & Mary, Rider, Columbia (men), Rutgers (women) and Miami (FL) (women).
After their annual training trip to Florida, the Blue Jays will return home to host the Stevens Ducks on January 13. The following week, Hopkins will face Denison and Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh. The Blue Jays then return home for the Blue Jay First Chance Meet, giving teams the opportunity to solidify their conference teams or an early chance to strengthen entry times heading into championship season.
Hopkins concludes the regular season with the annual Janis Hape Dowd Nike Invitational, hosted by North Carolina and Duke. The three-day meet will also include NC State, Florida State, James Madison and South Carolina to name a few. The Blue Jays will then prepare for the 2018 NCAA Championships, scheduled for March 21-24 at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, IN.
