John Geissinger has been selected as Hamilton College’s head men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach. Geissinger was the head men’s and women’s swimming coach and aquatics director at Arcadia University in Glenside, Pa., for the past four seasons.
Arcadia improved its standing at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) swimming championships the last three seasons under Geissinger. In 2015 the men finished sixth and the women were eighth. Both teams ended up in fourth place the following year and in 2017 the men and the women landed in third place, which was the best finish in either program’s history. He coached the 2017 MAC Women’s Swimming Rookie of the Year and a total of nine individual champions in four MAC championships. More than 120 school records were set and his program racked up seven College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team honors.

Geissinger was an assistant men’s and women’s swim coach at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va., from 2010 to 2013. He was the recruiting coordinator and sprint coach for both programs. The women captured Old Dominion Athletic Conference team titles all three years he was on the coaching staff. He helped guide 19 NCAA Division III championship qualifiers to 21 all-America performances.

Geissinger was a 22-time all-American at Denison University from 2006 to 2009. Denison finished second in the men’s team standings at the NCAA Division III championships in 2006 and 2007 and placed third in 2008 and 2009. He was part of national champion 800-yard freestyle relays in 2007, 2008 and 2009, as well as the 400 free relay in 2007. He was selected the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Men’s Swimmer of the Year in 2009 when he won the 50, 100 and 200 free, and was part of three champion free relays and the 400 medley relay. Denison was the 2009 NCAC men’s team champion and he finished his career with three individual and nine relay NCAC titles. As of 2016, he still held school and conference records in the 100 free and was part of the program-record 400 free relay.
Geissinger graduated with a degree in history and is working towards his master’s in education from Arcadia.
