Job Duties
The primary and most important responsibility of a coach is instructing student-athletes. Reporting to the Head Coach –Women’s Swimming and Diving, the individual serving in this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

• Coordinate and manage all aspects of position/positions assignment as directed by the Head Coach.
• Performs planning, organization and execution for coaching (instruction/education) duties as described and assigned by the Head Coach for all meetings, practice sessions and competitions
• Function in game day organization and assignments as prescribed by the Head Coach.
• Evaluation of opponents and the development of a game plan for student-athlete instruction in accordance with position/positions assignment as prescribed by the Head Coach.
• Perform recruiting activities and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Swimming recruiting coordinator to meet the objectives of the university and team, including the evaluation, contact, and establishing relationships with prospective student-athletes and coaches.
• Attend all staff meetings as scheduled by the Head Coach.
• Assist in the development of team rules and policies.
• Responsible for supervision, instruction and direction of student-athletes as assigned by the Head Coach.
• Support, abide and enforce all academic guidelines and policies of the university, athletics department and Swimming program to insure academic progress of the student-athlete as directed by the Head Coach.
• Support and work cooperatively with Sports Medicine/Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, Equipment, Student Development, Life Skills, NCAA Compliance, Media Relations etc. areas in accordance with department policies and procedures.
• Assist with administrative functions of the Swimming program as directed by the Head Coach.
• Perform duties with professional conduct, being fiscally responsible and with a commitment to student-athlete well-being.
• Abide by all written policies, procedures and guidelines of East Carolina University, the Department of Athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and all applicable conferences or associations.
• Build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with athletics, Pirate Club and University staff, students, and all constituencies and stakeholders.
• Be available to make appearances, perform media interviews, speaking engagements and support ECU Pirate Club activities representing the Swimming program and ECU athletics.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
• Nights, weekends, holidays, extended hours, and travel are required in the performance of duties.

Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution required. Prior collegiate swimming participation and/or coaching experience also required.

Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and conferred by the time of hire

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: n/a

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Prior Division I participation and/or coaching experience are preferred. HyTek Meet/Team Manager experience also preferred.

Waterloo Swimming is seeking a Lead Group Coach for our top 10&Under group for the  2024 Season.

Waterloo Swimming is a USA Swimming Bronze Medal swim club located in North Austin, TX. Currently operating out of one location featuring an Olympic sized, 50M pool, WLOO is home to just over 400 athletes ranging from Junior National finalists to beginning club swimmers. WLOO has finished in the top-five of the Texas Age Group State Championships (TAGS) for the last five seasons. 

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable swim coach to direct and lead our 10&Under TAGS training group. This group ranges in age from 9-12. The swimmers in this group are aiming to achieve A through AAAA times on the USA National Age Group Motivational Time Standards in multiple strokes and be competitive at the TAGS level. 

Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate technique-driven processes in their practice writing and season plan as well speak about their experience in developing athletes, administrative work off-deck, and effectively communicating with athletes, parents, and staff. 

We believe the best coaches have had experience at all levels of our sport, and it is our goal to provide that education to our entire staff. Each WLOO coach has the opportunity to work with all groups in our program as well as take the lead on team projects such as meet management, clinic operations, parent education or new swimmer outreach to further help build their resumes.

25% Coaching

  • Perform both direct and indirect public relations functions including promotion, fund raising, public speaking, community events, and through camps and/or clinics. Serve on departmental committees as requested.
  • Assist with departmental needs as requested; When practical under the circumstances, staff is encouraged to voluntarily attend athletic events to promote audience participation and support for AWPAA sport programs.

Wittenberg University is searching for a part-time Assistant Coach for Diving. The Assistant Coach will assist the head coach in leading all aspects of a NCAA Division III athletic program.

Essential functions include, but not limited to:

  • Assist the Head Coach with practice and game-day preparation and execution.
  • Evaluate, recruit, and graduate student-athletes.
  • Maintain and ensure student-athlete academic integrity.
  • Interact effectively and appropriately with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, peers, community members, and administrators.

Requirements:

For this position, we require that candidates have a bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of collegiate playing experience.  Candidates must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and be able to effectively and appropriately interact with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, peers, community members, and administrators.

Knowledge in the following areas is preferred:  Microsoft Office, athletic video and performance review software (i.e. Hudl, Synergy), social media, recruiting software (Frontrush).  A valid driver’s license is required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures. If license is from out of state, successful candidate will need to obtain a valid Ohio driver’s license within 30 days of hire date.

Travel is required as well as some evening, night, and weekend work.

Being authorized to work in the United States is a pre-condition of employment.

PRACTICE LOCATION PSL practices are held at an indoor, 10-lane facility in Pacifica, CA near Hwy 1, I-280, Skyline Blvd and is easily accessible from San Francisco, Daly City, Colma, South San Francisco, Half Moon Bay, and the rest of the North end of the peninsula.

TIME Practice times are 4:00-7:00pm from May-January and 4:30-7:30pm February-April. Some practice groups hold practices on weekends and weekday mornings. Coaches are expected to be available for weekend swim meets 1 or more sessions per meet. New staff members may be eligible for shifts as much as 6 days per week 2-3.5 hours per day or as little as twice per week 1.5 hours per day.

General Summary:
The Etown Dolphins Swim Team is seeking a Head Coach to oversee our swimming
program. We are a Board operated team run by the Head Coach. The Head Coach is
responsible for the direction of the program with full support from the board. The main
goal of the position is to continue to grow and develop our swim program, developing
each swimmer to their full potential while building an excellence of team results. It is
expected that the Head Coach will foster positive relationships, mentor as appropriate,
work together with the coaching staff, and effectively communicate with swimmers,
family members, and coaches. The Head Coach must develop the skills and talents of
the team members and coaching staff while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and
encouraging personal development and excellence. The Head Coach will also be
expected to work in partnership with Elizabethtown High School and Etown Swim and
Fitness Center, and their respective facilities directors/managers to ensure proper
training availability.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Serve as the Head Coach for the team’s competitive swim program to
include Senior Groups, Age Groups and Learn to Swim.
o Develop and implement comprehensive training programs
across all team/group levels tailored to the needs and abilities
of individual swimmers/groups focusing on skill development,
tactical knowledge, and physical fitness. Provide personalized
coaching and feedback to individual athletes to help them
achieve their maximum potential. Organize and lead regular
team practices, to enhance team cohesion and performance.
The position will require working weeknight practices and some
weekend practices/meets with participation in meets at a local,
regional, state, and national levels. Supervise and maintain a
positive practice and meet environments.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, emphasizing sportsmanship,
teamwork, and respect among athletes, coaches, and support staff. Build a
positive atmosphere through team-work and fun.
• Manage day-to-day operating issues, including (but not limited to):
o Organize staff meetings, provide ongoing feedback to coaches.
o Plan team practice schedules and meet schedules, including
team and coaches travel, meet entry assignments, and other
meet administrative duties
o Evaluate training plans with the head Age Group coach to
encourage swimmers to develop short and long-range goals
o Plan and lead parent meetings
• Organize and manage all coaching and administrative staff assignments,
responsibilities, and career development, including:
o Review and evaluation of staffing levels
o Assignment and delegation of duties
• Attend Board meetings and provide monthly progress reports regarding
athlete performance, financial, communication, and staffing statuses.
• Finance responsibilities including:
o Assist in preparation of an annual operating budget with the
Board Treasurer.
o Implement and manage expenditures in accordance with
approved budget.
o Review and obtain Board approval for any required changes to
budget.
• Lead all communication to coaches, parents (one-to-one and other), Board,
and serve as the lead Etown Dolphins ambassador at meets and otherwise
(e.g. Public Relations). Also includes:
o Providing details on topics like: training tips, meet preparation,
injury prevention, nutrition, college recruitment, etc.…
o Assisting swimmers in understanding potential college
swimming opportunities and provide recommendations as
requested.
Requirements, Attitude and Approach:
• Must possess vision for Etown Dolphins Swim Team development and the
ability to maintain and communicate that vision through all swim levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communications as well as demonstrated
ability in building teamwork.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills to deal effectively with all
coaches, athletes, parents, Board members and outside personnel
• Act as a role model for swimmers with a positive, proactive manner which
inspires and support the athletes
• Up-to-date on latest coaching techniques through research and/or
continuing education through USA Swimming or ASCA
• Strong understanding of overall balance of training for distance and sprint,
taper techniques, both in water and dry-land, for all age groups and
strength/conditioning work throughout the entire program
o Ability to develop and implement a cohesive vision and
coaching philosophy throughout the program, building
swimmers from novice through senior levels
• Encourage athletes to strive for their personal best
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Qualifications:
• Current USA Swimming coach member in good standing, including all
courses and certifications.
• Proven coaching experience of five or more years and track of proven
success with both developmental and elite swimmers in technique, race
strategy, training methodologies, and results.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with
athletes, parents, staff, and the broader community.
• Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and events
simultaneously.
• Proficient in use of Hy-Tek software, Colorado Timing Systems, and
TeamUnify platforms, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – or
equivalent).
• Must pass USA Swimming background check.

Compensation:
$55,000-$70,000 compensation is commensurate with education and experience and
includes a structured bonus based on specific performance criteria. $600.00 monthly
