We are looking to add a self-starter; someone with interest recruiting high-level swimmers who are also scholars, has strong deck personality and shown that they value DEI initiatives and programs.
- Contributes to planning and implementing the conditioning, training, and coaching programs for swimming.
- Assists head coach in planning and conducting team practices, training, conditioning, and competitions.
- During competition, makes recommendations to head coach regarding adjustments to strategies and line-ups.
- Teaches swimming skills to student-athletes during team practices, meets, and individual/small group training sessions.
- Evaluates performance of athletes and offers technical, strategic, and mental instruction and advice.
- Demonstrates a sincere interest in the academic, personal, and physical welfare of each student-athlete, counsels team members, and consults with the head coach and appropriate College staff as necessary for the resolution of issues and development of culture and leadership on the team.
- Independently seeks and develops new training concepts and sport-specific knowledge to enhance the overall knowledge of the coaching staff.
- Assists head coach in developing and implementing an overall recruiting plan, including, but not limited to: identifying qualified students and talented athletes; communicating with prospects by phone, e-mail, social media; traveling to evaluate prospects, meet parents and high school/club coaches; organizing and participating in visits to campus by prospects.
- Maintains appropriate recruiting records as required by the NCAA.
- Maintains knowledge of the College’s programs and opportunities to effectively inform prospects.
- Knows and complies with the rules and regulations of the NCAA and Ivy League and works to stay abreast of rule changes, applications and interpretations; actively seeks to ensure that athletes and Dartmouth Athletics representatives are informed of and comply with NCAA and Ivy League rules.
- Provides input in planning and administering the budget for the swimming programs, which includes assessing needs for equipment, team travel, recruiting, etc.
- Plans and reconciles recruiting and team travel expenses.
- Assists head coach in planning and developing competitive schedule.
- Assists head coach in coordinating team travel plans (food orders, itineraries, etc).
- Assists the coaching staff in coordinating a social media plan and creating/posting content.
- Communicates with alumni, parents, and other supporters regarding status of the program.
- Assists head coach in promoting Dartmouth and the swimming programs through swim lessons, camps, clinics, and community involvement.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with a wide range of constituents, including students, parents, faculty, department and College staff, alumni, fans, community members, the media, etc.
- Represents Dartmouth, the athletics department, and the swimming programs in an exemplary fashion.
