James Madison’s Gross Honored as CAA Diver of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore Emily Gross was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Diver of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Gross swept the 1m and 3m boards while posting NCAA Zone qualifying scores over the weekend at the JMU Diving Invitational. Competing against Northeastern, Towson and George Mason, Gross tied teammate Hope Byrum to place first in the 3-meter event with a career-high score of 308.85. She posted a 280.95 in the prelims of the 1-meter event and took first in the finals with a score of 275.25.

This is Gross’ first CAA weekly honor of the season and the second of her career.

JMU will compete in the CAA Championship Feb. 20-23. The 3-meter event will take place on Thursday, Feb. 21 while the 1-meter action will occur on Saturday, Feb. 23.
