In September Lionel Horter abruptly resigned from his position as the National Technical Director (DTN) of the French Swimming Federation (FFN).
In early November the FFN started their search for a new DTN and by the end of November had 17 applicants for the job.
On January 23rd the three finalists for the job were announced, which included Roxana Maracineanu, Philippe Hellard and Jacques Favre.
And today L’Equipe is reporting that the FFN will announce that their new DTN will be Jacques Favre. The announcement is set to be made Friday afternoon in Amiens.
Jacques Favre is the director of the sports commission of the Cercle des Nageurs de Marseille, the club that houses Florent Manaudou, Fabien Gilot, Fred Bousquet, Camille Lacourt, Mehdy Metella, Grégory Mallet, and Giacomo Perez-Dortona, amongst others.
That’s probably a very political choice. 🙂
More important, Paris will be officially candidate for the 2024 summer olympic games next April.
The Mayor has changed her mind.
And a big majority of French people supports the bid. Me too.
Of course also the same conservative voices against that idea as we see in Boston.
