Colorado College has hired Jacob Beach as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s swimming programs, head coach Anne Goodman James announced today.

Beach comes to Colorado Springs from his alma mater, Ohio Wesleyan University, where he served as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s swim teams since 2016.

“We are thrilled to have Jacob join our program as the new assistant swimming coach,” Goodman James said. “With four years of college coaching under his belt, he brings knowledge and experience in all aspects of the program. His specific experience as a Division III swimmer and coach at a small liberal arts college provides a great connection with our students at CC. I look forward to working with Jacob to develop our students, and elevate our program to the next level.”

Beach, a four-year letterwinner in swimming at Ohio Wesleyan, was a part of a number of top-five relays in varying distances and events at OWU. Despite starting his swimming career in high school, he earned All-Ohio honors before swimming in college.

Prior to his coaching stint at Ohio Wesleyan, Beach was an assistant coach at Olivet College for one year. He also has coaching experience as a masters swim coach at LifeTime Fitness in Dublin, Ohio, an assistant coach with the Delaware Ohio Racing Club and an assistant manager and lifeguard for the city pool system in his hometown of Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

“I am excited to be part of the CC community and look at it as an opportunity to be part of something greater than myself,” Beach said. “Colorado College’s Athletics Mission of balancing academic and athletic success falls in line with my personal coaching philosophy, and because of this, I believe I will have many opportunities to grow as an individual and provide as a coach.”

Beach, who received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in politics and government from Ohio Wesleyan in 2014 and is on schedule to earn a master’s degree in coaching education from Ohio University in 2020, will serve as the Tigers’ recruiting coordinator in addition to his on-deck coaching duties.
