The final day of the Geneva Futures meet featured the 100 free, 200 back, 200 IM, women’s 1500, and men’s 800. Duke’s Quinn Scannell followed up her 50 free win on day 3 with winning the women’s 100 free as well. Scannell posted a 57.05 to win the event by nearly a second. Unlike the 50, where Scannell dropped half a second from her best time, Scannell was about half a second off her best time of 56.59 in the 100. Quinn’s brother, Thacher Scannell, who swims for Davidson, won the men’s 100 free in 51.88. Thacher was the only swimmer in the field to crack 52 seconds. It was also Thacher’s first time under 52 in his career, as his previous best was 52.34.

Rider University’s Kyle Iorizzo took the men’s 800 free in a tight race with 17-year-old Adam Zapatka of Charter Oak Aquatic Club. Zapatka took the early lead over Iorizzo from the start, and held that lead through the 650 mark. Zapatka flipped at 4:09.08 at the 400 mark, where Iorizzo was 4:11.39. That 2.31 second lead for Zapatka was his biggest of the race, since after the halfway point, Iorizzo kicked it up a gear, and started splitting roughly half a second faster per 50 than his was in the first half. Iorizzo finished in 8:19.35, with Zapatka right behind (8:19.89).

Nation’s Capital 19-year-old Brooke Travis, who will be starting at Virginia Tech in the Fall, won the women’s 1500 in 17:05.34. Travis has a personal best of 16:52.26. Lauren Aylmer, a 17-year-old from NYS Aquatics, won the women’s 200 back in 2:16.76. She dropped over a second from her previous best of 2:18.00. Yale’s Liam Bogart won the men’s 200 back in 2:04.40, which was off his prelims performance of 2:04.10, a personal best for him. 14-Year-Old J.T. Ewing of The Fish came in second in 2:05.32. That marked a big drop from Ewing’s previous best of 2:08.03. Ewing’s time makes him the #11 performer for 13-14 boys all-time.

Duquesne University’s Emma Brinton took the women’s 200 IM in a personal best 0f 2:18.25. 15-Year-Old Thomas House from Dayton Raiders narrowly beat out Navy’s Ethan Tack in the men’s 200 IM. Tack was out quicker than House, splitting 27.05 on the fly leg to House’s 28.06. House then posted a very quick backstroke split of 31.60, outsplitting Tack significantly (33.07).  They were very close on the breast leg, with Tack splitting 36.21 to House’s 36.46. They were also very close on free, with Tack again narrowly beating House, 30.01 to 30.17. House had built up too much of a lead on backstroke, however, and got his hand on the wall first, 2:06.29 to 2:06.34.
