The International Swimming League (ISL) season 2 has already seen some roster changes, with Team Energy Standard claiming new members Siobhan Haughey (formerly of DC Trident), Pernille Blume (formerly of NY Breakers), Zsuzsanna Jakabos (formerly of Iron) and Felipe Lima (formerly of LA Current).
Now, the Turkey-based powerhouse squad has revealed that Swiss ace Jeremy Desplanches will be joining the fold, teaming up with the aforementioned, along with returning members Georgia Davies, Florent Manaudou and others.
25-year-old Olympian Desplanches spent ISL season 1 on Team Iron, one of the squads which did not make it to the Las Vegas finals. He only competed in one meet, London, at which he scored 11.5 points total.
Currently ranked 9th in the 400m IM (LCM) and 7th in the 200m IM (LCM) in the season’s world rankings, Desplanches could help soften the blow that would be dealt should heavy hitter Energy Standard team member from season 1, Daiya Seto of Japan, move to the new squad based in his home nation.
That Kosuke Kitajima-led team has not revealed its new members or any additional details at this point, but neither have any of the other non-Energy Standard outfits, for that matter.
Can people stop crying. There’s a literal f*ckton of superstar swimmers not signed to energy standard. They just happen to be the only team revealing their roster this early. There is a salary cap and a roster cap and so far they haven’t hit either of them so don’t wet your pants until the other teams show their rosters.

to your point – Caeleb Dressel posted today on his Insta, “Who’s gunna be cheering for the @calicondors_isl next season along with my fellow captain last year @osmoliga?”.
So yes, not all stars are going to ES.
Good to know; however, ES is “loading up” as the saying goes.

With each and every article about a swimmer moving to Energy Standard, I’m liking them less and less… Stacked teams are not fun!

At this point, gotta throw away the whole league.
Roster cap is 32 swimmers. Did they just get rid of the low scorers to put these guys in or are they just going to exceed the roster cap? Currently at 20 swimmers
From what I understand, with the expanded season, the roster cap will be expanded next season as well. (Not that it was actually enforced for year 1).
I think Seto will move to the Japanese team. And they could also lose some of the Canadian girls.
Hopefully they won’t be allowing late season additions like Seto in the future.

ISL needs a salary cap
There is one.

I think there was a salary cap of $25,000 per team in 2019
It’s been increased for the second season.
And a proper draft and trading period.
