Nicqueline Rettberg from Seal Beach, California, has made a verbal commitment to Texas Christian University for the 2016-17 season.
“When I stepped on campus, I was enamored by the beauty of the university. Coaches Richard, Keegan, Jenn and the rest of the coaching staff were wonderful and earnestly cared for their athletes. I was greatly impressed by the family dynamic of the team and how supportive they were towards one another. The countless academic opportunities and student services are only a few of the highlights of the university. I feel truly blessed to be part of the TCU family. GO FROGS!!!”
Rettberg is a senior at Los Alamitos High School, where she was an “A” finalist in both the 200 free (seventh, 1:50.98) and 500 free (fourth, 4:53.38) at the CIF-Southern Section Division I Championships in May. A member of Irvine Novaquatics, Rettberg is an accomplished distance freestyler with the following times:

Rettberg’s best times in the 500-1000-1650 freestyles would each figure among TCU’s all-time top-5, and she would have scored 10th in the mile at 2015 Big 12 Conference Championships just behind Mikayla Winkler and Carley Stevens. A 4:51 in prelims would have earned her a spot in the “A” final of the women’s 500 alongside Winkler and Lyndsie Gibson.
Rettberg will have a solid group of training partners in the Horned Frogs’ distance freestyle cluster, which will need to take over the scoring responsibility after the graduation of current seniors Winkler, Stevens, Gibson, and Sara Brzozowski. She will join fellow commits Claire Munster, Hannah Dooley, and Katie Woods in the TCU class of 2020.
