Iowa Standout Dustin Rhoads Named Graduate Assistant At TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU swimming and diving head coach Richard Sybesma announced Dustin Rhoads has joined the staff as a graduate assistant.

“We’re very excited to have Dustin join our team,” Sybesma said. “He will be a great addition to our staff. He is a tireless recruiter, an awesome coach and is a great fit for our program.”

Rhoads, a 2014 University of Iowa graduate, brings a wealth of experience from his time as a student-athlete and as a coach.  In 2012, he was a Team USA Olympic Trials Qualifier in the 100 backstroke. At the beginning of the 2013-14 season, he was voted a team captain and was named Team MVP for his success in the pool his senior year.

His senior year, he qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100 (46.53) and 200 back (1:42.94). Rhoads is also a four-time school record holder.

During his time at Iowa, he garnered three Academic All-Big Ten Conference accolades, was named the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2013, as well as Scholar All-America status.

After graduating from Iowa, he returned to his hometown of Ames to help coach the Ames Cyclone Aquatics Club.

Rhoads will begin at TCU in August.
