SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Junior Kathe Hepfer was a double-winner as The University of Texas Permian Basin women’s swimming & diving team (3-2) lost 173-101 to NCAA Division I Incarnate Word (1-4), Friday afternoon at the Ann Barshop Natatorium.

Hepfer won the 1 and 3-meter boards (236.03 points, 233.48 points) to pace the Falcons.  Additional wins came from sophomore Carleigh Castillo in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:03.09) and sophomore Emma Gerhart in the 200-yard butterfly (2:17.47).

Runner-up performances were delivered by junior Olivia Blackman in the 200 fly (2:33.76), Gerhart in the 500-yard freestyle (5:30.42), freshman Emi Goto on the 1 and 3-m boards (235.50, 219.45), senior Ava Reaume in the 50-yard freestyle (26.02) and freshman Chloe Siegrist in the 100 breast.

UT Permian Basin will compete at the Tiger Invitational, Friday-Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 17-18-19.  The meet is in San Antonio, Texas.

UTPB came away with four first place finishes: senior Trevor Heath in the 50-yard freestyle (21.72), junior Nathan Powell in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.48), sophomore Owen Putnam in the 200-yard butterfly (1:59.28) and sophomore Carter Wood on the 1-meter board (334.35).

Runner-up performances came from freshman Tommy Betancour in 50 free (23.07), freshman Alexander Brough in the 200 breast (2:16.35), junior Niklas Heelein in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:17.05), Putnam in the 200-yard free (1:48.13) and junior Evan Siegrist in the 200 fly (1:59.81).
