Illinois Freestyler Matt Kamin Verbally Commits to University of Iowa

Peoria Notre Dame High School senior Matt Kamin has made a verbal commitment to the University of Iowa swimming and diving team for the fall of 2015.

“Since the first time I went to Iowa for a swim meet I thought it would make a great fit. The campus is perfect, I loved the team, and I’m looking forward to receiving a great education from the university. I connected with the coaches and it’s also nice to know that some of them are from my home town! I’m very excited to be a Hawkeye next year!”

Kamin swims for Peoria Area Water Wizards and specializes in sprint-to-mid-distance free events. He placed fourth in the 200 free (1:41.01) and fifth in the 100 free (46.36) at the 2014 Illinois Boys Swimming & Diving State Meet. He also led off the Notre Dame 200 free relay. Kamin’s best times are:

50y free – 21.63
100y free – 46.34
200y free – 1:41.01
500y free – 4:38.90
200y IM – 2:02.71

Kamin will join Quinn Risley on the Hawkeyes’ roster next year.
