In case you missed, watch Minna Atherton‘s 100 back world record race video, set during the ISL Budapest meet.

The Aussie teen sensation attempted to break the 2014 world record, held by Iron team captain Katinka Hosszu, four times over the course of a week. Atherton’s swim now makes her the first woman under 55 seconds in the SCM 100 back, with her new world standard of 54.89.

Kudos to Minna. Besides of making this incredible achievement she also gave me a pleasure by taking some points from Hosszu who needed them desperately to be paid for MVP. And she dethroned “Iron Lady” by taking from her the world record, so it will be Sjostrom now who has it most.
Keep going Minna.

Gotta hurt she won MVP.

It’s really not fair that Atherton gets to be so talented, and also so beautiful. Most of us never get to be either of those things.

I’m sure that there is something about you that makes you unique and loveable. Ask your parents if they are around.

Didn’t she underwater kick right through the 15m mark?

No

Well it’s only 25m so she only had to swim 10m.. that’s why I prefer long course .. more actual swimming

A fair viewer should notice she makes at least two disqualifyable turns.

I watched, not the best video to call people out on a 15m violation imo.

There’s no such rule in short course swimming that limits how far people can swim underwater.

Thanks, Jack, for clearing that up! Appreciated. My eyes were indeed playing tricks on me and I regret the error. I was like “Am I the only one seeing this?” Hehehe… yup.

No. There’s a 15m mark both ways. So there’s some shots where she’s kicking past a yellow marker, but it’s the 15m market from the opposite end. Easy to get confused, but if you go back and look carefully, you’ll see she passes a yellow marker, then pops up before the second yellow marker, which is actually the 15.

No, because it is short course meters the second yellow marker is the 15-meter mark the same with short course yards.
