This weekend’s NCAA Division I Women’s Championships and NCAA Division II Championships are only half of the equation of NCAA swimming & diving championship season. Next weekend will see the Men’s Division I Championship and, relevant here, the Division III men’s and women’s championship meets to finish off the season.
Johns Hopkins is preparing for the Division III meet, and junior Emile Kuyl put together one last hype video of the team’s work this season. The team finished 4th at last year’s NCAA Championship meet, including an 8th-place finish for Kuyl himself in the 100 back (49.64).
While the team’s top distance swimmer Andrew Greehalgh, who won silvers in the 500 and 1650 frees at NCAAs last year, has graduated, a new senior, Griffith Otazu, has stepped in. He enters the meet as the top qualifier in the 500 free (4:25.30). Along with Brandon Fabian’s 1:37.41 in the 200 free, the Blue Jays have top seeds in two events.
Watch the video below. The 2018 NCAA Division III Championships begin on Wednesday.
